About Sayako Hiroi Studio

Sayako Hiroi is a painter and kintsugi practitioner from Tokyo, now based in Boston. She holds an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, and after learning simplified kintsugi in a studio setting, she taught herself the traditional urushi lacquer technique. She repairs clients' broken ceramics from her Allston studio, and her workshops use the same materials and steps she uses in that work. You leave with a piece you mended yourself, and with the reason it is worth doing.
