Greater Philadelphia's spring calendar is dense, and half of what's worth booking sells out by mid-April. The gardens open first (Longwood, Chanticleer, Morris Arboretum); the wine festivals pick up two weeks later when the ground warms enough for outdoor tastings. This is the shortlist — eight events between late April and mid-June worth blocking for.
Dates below are confirmed from each venue's 2026 public calendar as of this guide's publication. Book early; we'll refresh the list at the start of summer.
Brandywine Valley wineries open their concert series, Longwood lights its fountains, and Philly's working orchards roll into u-pick season. A pocket guide to what's worth the drive — dates listed are typical season windows, so confirm with each venue before booking.
Late spring
Chaddsford Winery Spring Festival
When: Mid-May (annual) · Where: Chadds Ford, PA · Tickets: ~$35 weekend pass
The Brandywine Valley's flagship winery runs their flagship weekend each May — live music, food trucks, and tastings from regional producers. Pennsylvania's rieslings are genuinely competitive with the Finger Lakes, and this is the easiest place to test that claim without traveling.
Linvilla Orchards Strawberry Season
When: Late May through June · Where: Media, PA · Tickets: Free entry, you-pick by the pound
One of the last working orchards inside the Philly metro. Strawberry u-pick opens in mid-to-late May and runs until the fields are picked clean. The fruit stand sells what doesn't get picked, plus pies you'll want to take home.
Early summer
Longwood Gardens — Festival of Fountains
When: May through September (timed evening shows) · Where: Kennett Square, PA · Tickets: Timed entry, $25–$35
Longwood's summer-into-fall headliner. Choreographed fountain shows run after sunset on selected evenings from May through September. Pack a picnic; the lawn fills up an hour before showtime, and the back portions of the gardens are quietest right around dusk.
Penns Woods Winery Summer Concerts
When: Friday and Saturday evenings, June through August · Where: Chadds Ford, PA · Tickets: Free entry, bottles + glasses sold on the lawn
The slightly-less-busy sister destination to Chaddsford. Friday and Saturday outdoor concerts run on the vineyard lawn most weekends through the summer. The grenache rosé is the move; bring chairs.
Va La Vineyards Open Weekends
When: Weekends, May through October · Where: Avondale, PA · Tickets: Tastings by reservation
The only vineyard in the region working entirely from estate-grown grapes, and the most idiosyncratic of the bunch — the wines are field blends, fermented natural, and the tastings are quiet, slow, and worth planning around. Reserve ahead; the small porch fills up.
Mid-summer
Chaddsford Summer Concert Series
When: Friday evenings, June through August · Where: Chadds Ford, PA · Tickets: $15–$25 lawn admission, wine sold separately
Friday-night concerts on Chaddsford's lawn run most of the summer. Bring a blanket or chairs and arrive before the parking lot fills. The Brandywine White is the warm-evening pour.
Bartram's Garden Picnic Concerts
When: Thursday evenings, June through August · Where: Southwest Philadelphia · Tickets: Free entry, BYO picnic
America's oldest botanical garden hosts Thursday-evening picnic concerts in the meadow above the Schuylkill all summer. Free; BYO blanket, snacks, and a bottle if you brought one. The walk down to the river at sunset is the part everyone remembers.
Linvilla Peach & Sunflower Season
When: July through August · Where: Media, PA · Tickets: Free entry, u-pick by the pound
Linvilla shifts from strawberries to peaches in July, and the sunflower field opens in August. Both run weekends; the peaches are the real thing, and the sunflower rows go for almost a mile.
How to plan your calendar
If you're pacing yourself, one event every two or three weekends builds a natural rhythm — late-spring wineries roll into Longwood evenings, which roll into the summer concert circuit, which roll into peach season. If you're going deeper, the Brandywine Valley wineries (Chaddsford, Penns Woods, Va La) all sit within a 30-minute loop of each other and make a strong overnight road trip with a stay in Kennett Square.
Most of the ticketed events above require advance booking and dates shift year to year. Confirm with each venue before you build out the calendar — and check Marigold for hand-curated small-group experiences sitting alongside these venue events.
