FAQs

Can children join?

Yes! Children are welcome, provided they can remain reasonably quiet during the performance so everyone can enjoy the music.

Do I have to choose a tune? What if I don’t have any questions?

That’s perfectly fine. You’re welcome to simply sit back, listen, and enjoy the music.

Do I have to be a musician or know anything about music or jazz attend?

Not at all! Jazz Up Close is for everyone, from experienced musicians to curious listeners who simply enjoy music. No musical knowledge or experience is required. Whether you’re a longtime jazz lover or simply curious about piano music, you’re welcome.

Can I request a specific song?

You can choose from the prepared list of tunes offered during the session. Requests outside that list may not be possible, but you’re welcome to suggest them to the artist for a future concert.

Is this a formal concert or an interactive experience?

Both. You’ll enjoy a live solo piano performance in an intimate setting, with brief introductions, optional audience tune selections, and time for questions.

Will the artist play the same pieces at every concert?

No. Each session features a different selection of music, combining jazz standards and original compositions. Every concert offers something new to discover.

Can I play a piece on the piano if I’m a pianist myself?

For your first visit, we invite you to enjoy the concert as an audience member. If you return for a future session, speak with the host about the possibility of sharing a piece.
